Each tool has its own superiority over the other types of tool. The screw conveyors are the oldest type of screws known to mankind because it have been dated over a two thousand years ago. It has the original design and have a general use of moving grains, fine coal and other bulk materials that require conveying process. Modern technology has made the screw conveyor to be highly efficient and more economical in conveying bulk materials.

Horizontal conveyor is the mostly used type of this tool. They are used to carry one bulk from one process to the other and comes in different sizes and length. It also ranges on the material of construction and also configurations. They are controlled by other devices such as screw feeder and, rotary air clock and volumetric feeder.

The second step is to determine the conveyors size, capacity and speed. In this step mathematical calculations should be required. The calculation depends on the pitch position either short pitch or long pitch. Also the flights, either folded flights, cut flights or the ribbon flights. It provides a non-clogging surface to allow the bulk materials be easily carried to another process. This type are can be improved to meet the modern standards because of its flexibility. Also, it is highly efficient because of the pitch position. Shaft less conveyor have advantage over the other machines because the internal bearings are highly eliminated.

Other important step is to check the torsional ratings of the components. These type of tolls are always limited to the in the overall size and length and the amount of torque should be safely transmitted through the selected components. One should increase the revolution per minute of the component in orders to acquire the smaller and inexpensive tool. The cost and design is the important variables should be considered.

The conveyors can be made of a variety of materials depending upon the component being conveyed. The various materials can resist abrasion, heat or corrosion that can reduce the lifespan of the tool. The wear and tear is the worst consequences that affect the tool which is not designed by considering all the parameters.

Therefore, it is advisable to choose the correct tool depending on the work one is handling to avoid low efficiency. Tools have specific function especially the screw conveyor and should not be mistakes, the feature are seemingly the same thus prone to confusion. Each tool has its own configurations and different horse power.
