By Robert Roberts

Man began in hunter gatherer societies. The male gender played a dominant role in this grouping as the physical aspects that were required to tackle beasts that were hunted. Homesteads and villages were defended by them. The capture of game and domestication of wild animals were also done the males in this community. During those early times a leader always emerged. Now in modern times leaders are chosen by election. Be a leader and join the Texas congressional race.

Protection form wild beasts brought humans together. This was learned from predators than came in packs that killed solitary individuals. A conclusion was made that the only way to counter this was create own packs, human packs. This was the beginning of villages and society. Individuals joined together in building barriers to ward off deadly animals.

These tribes congregated to become communities and progressed into much larger ones known as cities. As activities became numerous and more difficult, synchronization became apparent to make production more efficient. Society became political units with one person or more persons coordinating the populace actions. This is the beginnings of politics.

From starting as groups defending itself from animals, tribes developed into one that also protected itself from intruding populations from other places. This is the beginning of early warfare. People started killing each other to take possession of others resources. This forced the weaker organizations to combine in order to protect the unit or to exact revenge on the other tribes.

Ancient civilization appointed kings to lead the society. Often these were the strongest and the brightest among the population. As time elapsed the position was handed over to sons or daughter when the king died. This gave rise to the right of succession which were predominantly included the direct blood relatives. Feuds erupted when others outside of relation deigned to take over the kingship. Most often than not it was the first born who had the primary right to succeed the forebear. This has resulted in bloody wars between brothers and relative and is well recorded in history.

Since the dawn of early civilization, people were always at war. Even up until the present times nations still wage it for assimilation of peoples or to gain more territory. The main reason why there was world war two was because one nation felt constrained and needed more living space so it decided to expand by forcible taking territories of neighboring nations.

Towards the end of eighteenth century an upheaval occurred as pioneering thinkers began to rationalize the divine right of kings. This resulted in the French revolution. With the success, the revolutionists tried to export the ideas. Wars broke out as other monarchies resisted the ideas. Continental Europe was afire pitting one nation against a coalition of others. Kingdoms faltered against the might of armies led by le petite corporal.

Concurrent with the time of revolutionary fervor, one country far away from the other across the oceans was undergoing an upheaval of its own. This cacophony of individual states decided to join together as one and seceded from the mother country. The thirteen colonies agreed to appoint the leaders from the ordinary citizenry through elections. The birth of this nation was also the birth of democracy.

Nations succeed or fail on who leads them. In the modern era great leaders have emerged out of the elections process especially in the Western Hemisphere. The declaration of Independence produced great thinkers and doers have led this nation during peacetimes and in war. The first president who consolidated the nation after it freed itself of colonization was a common citizen. Along the way and up to the present, the leader of this nation is also the de facto leader of the free world.
