The Finer Points Of A Full Virtualized IT Environment

By William Ward

The thing about the modern world is that it did not come about by magic. No, it came about through hard work and innovation. Humankind used to walk around the earth sans shoes. But now, people do not even have to walk at all. There are vehicles of all sizes in the modern day, the kind that make it unnecessary to put one foot in front of the other. But mobility is not the only aspect where humanity made great leaps and bounds forward. No, there it also information. It used to be that information was passed orally. Now, it can be passed in a full virtualized IT environment.

Information technology is what IT means. It covers all kinds of digital technology. In the modern world, it may be the second most important resource in the workplace, second only to the employees themselves.

Information technology has applications that can be used in the real world. For example, emails. In the old days, to send a message, a person had to write a letter, and then send that letter to the intended recipient, and then wait for a response. Nowadays, however, a person can just write an email, hit send, and then wait for the recipient to respond.

Virtualization is the process in which a new environment is made up. It is not an imitation of one, unlike in simulation. But is in fact a new one wholesale. In short, this means having a single compute running multiple operating systems at the same time.

Now, the applications for such technology are far reaching. One of the most common examples of such technology is the virtual desktop. The desktop is the initial screen of the computer, the part where all the programs and folders that can be clicked on can be found. Now, a virtual desktop is exactly the same, except that it can be accessed by basically any computer given the right security protocols. This means that a person can access the same programs and files regardless of what computer they are using.

Whenever a product is developed and marketed, a lot of money is sunk into it. First of all, just developing it is going cost a lot of money. Marketing it to clients is also going to come at a cost. Given all that, clients need to realize that the products they are buying will cost significantly more than nothing.

The onus, however, shifts to the developer when it comes to reliability. If they market a product to a client, then the client is entitled to that product working properly. But it since the choice to patronize a product ultimately lies with the client, then it is up to them to find the right software for their business needs. As much as a developer needs to make a working product, it is the customers that should be able to choose the right one.

The main drawback to any aspect of business is humanity. Forgetting passwords and losing security tokens are both things that happen quite often. Which means that the access to such a system becomes compromised.

People expect convenience. They have also come to expect speed when it comes to their tasks. They want to be able to do things quickly and efficiently.
