You have finally been given the chance to travel from work. You were given the privilege to travel in the United States of America. Your tourist visa has all been prepared for you by the company and all set to go. But you cannot help wonder where they are planning to send you. They just tell you that you are going to visit the center of America, a certain city in the west. That is named Wahpeton.
North Dakota is almost located at the center between Canada and the rest of the United States. This is one of the cities in that state. It is not the capital though for the capital is Bismarck. This is located southeast and is almost near the borders of Minnesota. This may not be a vacation but knowing the attractions in the area is what you had in mind right away.
But being new about it, you actually are looking for its main attractions. And one is the home of a catfish named Wahpper. This is not just a regular sized catfish though. Said to be the largest in the entire world. The Kidder Recreation Area is a fishing and camping area of the city. Maybe were you originally located does not have any fishing activities so this is something to look forward to. You finally get to experience the patience of hooking a fish out from a river.
There is also huge golf course. And when we say huge, this means that is actually being shared to another state. That state is Minnesota. There are nine holes in North Dakota and the other nine is in that other state. Maybe it is also time to learn a new sport through golf.
A restored carousel with twenty horses, two chariots and a calliope bring back your inner childhood. It may not be as fun as a roller coaster or those other daredevil rides but at least it has this. This is enough to bring back your child like self. When we were little, carousels may have been the first rides we have ever ridden. The name of this carousel is the Prairie Rose Carousel.
If you like seeing animals then the Chahinkapa Zoo could be your next destination. They have more than three hundred animals from different continents. Seeing an animal that is not in your country always make your eyes widen for you have never seen such a creature. This zoo even offers a petting area where you get to experience petting those animals as well.
Art is also an attraction in the city. Not all places appreciate art and yet this city has two buildings that conserve the beauty of art. It has the Richland County Historical Museum and the Red Door Art Gallery. This is not the only red door art gallery though but for the historical museum, it displays artifacts of the Native Americans in the state.
Just like any place, this has to have an area being preserved. And there is actually two things that are being preserved there. One is a historical site and another is a monument. The monument is to commemorate two circus brothers who were struck by lightning when they putting up their tent. The historical site was a bonanza farm from the past.
These are just a few information of what is there. You may want to venture their restaurants if you are a food lover. They could have exquisite food that you may have never tasted before or go to the restaurants that is popular everywhere in America. And if sooner or later, you might want to really have a vacation in the area and try the hotels and motels.
