Los Angeles Trucking Companies Negligence

By Ruth Ross

Trucking Company Lease Purchase Programs appear to offer a tremendous benefit to truck drivers. New truck drivers, in particular, are targeted. The offer of a driver being able to own their truck oftentimes with zero down payment and no credit check can be extremely tempting to many drivers. Undoubtedly, some drivers benefit from these programs. However, many more have been ruined both financially and professionally. A typical lease purchase agreement through Los Angeles trucking companies requires you to work solely for them.

Of course, it is car drivers' responsibility to avoid danger zones around a truck. For instance, you must stay out of "no zones, " or areas around a truck that may place you in danger. No zones are like blind spots for truck drivers. There are no zones to either side of the vehicle, as well as behind it. The right no zone is especially dangerous since trucks must take wide right turns.

Even if you are driving safely, though, you cannot always predict when a tired truck driver or improperly maintained vehicle will put you at risk for a terrible accident. To protect both truck drivers and those around them, state and national governments place certain restrictions on truck agencies and drivers. First, truck agencies cannot force their drivers to ignore the hours of service restrictions. This can put a sleepy, dangerous driver in your path.

One thing about truck drivers is that they have no problem when it comes to speaking their minds. But after spending hours and hours searching through the forums and sorting through pages and pages of company listings, you may still find yourself totally confused on what to believe.

Also, when truck agencies look to hire new employees, they must find licensed, safe drivers to put on the road. Additionally, they should properly train these drivers so that they can safely operate the vehicle. Unsafe, untrained truck drivers may not be able to fully control their vehicles.

Your truck may be located in a different state. Typically, the truck company will give you a bus ticket to enable you to get to the location of the truck. You might be in for a surprise to get to the location and discover that the truck is not even driveable. Again, you will be informed that the truck is yours and any repairs needed are your responsibility. You can argue all you want, but it will be to no avail. Consequently, if you don't have available funds for repairs, you are certainly getting off to a bad start.

This is the typical situation many drivers find themselves in. They soon discover that the lease-purchase agreement has put them in worst financial shape than they were initially in. I suggest that if you want to do a lease purchase program, you do so through a bank or finance company.

Finally, semi-truck agencies are responsible for making sure their vehicles run properly to keep from creating hazardous road conditions for other drivers. Semi-trucks require engine and brake examinations on a regular basis to keep them in working order. If tractor-trailer agencies decide not to replace worn gear, the money they save could cost someone else's life.
