The Sun God And Sun Goddess

By Haywood Hunter

Over time there have been many religions and they are always changing. Each region of the world has a different set of beliefs. Our sun is a big part of the reason for some of these beliefs. Some have a sun god and some of them use a sun goddess.

No matter which they chose to have, at its core it was the same belief. The sun warms us with its heat. It provides light so that we can see in the darkness. Its rays help plant life flourish on the Earth thus providing sustenance for all who inhabit it. It is the reason we are alive.

Those who are thankful to the sun believe that they should be because it provides for them. They feel that they should be thankful to what gives life and nurtures it. They often times will worship the sun or create a sun god or sun goddess to represent it.

Some people use the sun as a fertility god. The is held responsible for birth and replenishing life on the Earth. Couples sometime pray to fertility gods or a sun goddess and even have one in the room when they are trying to conceive a baby.

Some people thought that a sun god and sun goddess may have rode the skies in chariots. They thought that some gods were responsible for the suns movement and even the weather.

The sun god and sun goddess come in many shapes and have many names. They could look like an animal or a human. Some have been in the shape of lions and owls.

The sun god and the sun goddess have been known under many names. In Greece the sun god was called Apollo. It was thought that he flew threw the sky in a chariot. The Greeks thought that he was responsible for the sun moving around the earth.

Freyr was the name of the Norse sun god. They also had a sun goddess. Her name was Sol. Freyr was believed to have ridden on a boar. They said he used a ship to sail on the waters and when he wasn't on the water with it, that he would fold it up and put it inside of his pocket. Sol, the sun goddess was thought to ride in a chariot like the Greek God Apollo.

When it comes to any religion, there is always those who find it all a little hard to believe. Even the stories of Jesus seem a little out there to some. Walking on water and transforming plain water into wine just doesn't seem feasible to those who are skeptic.

If you choose to worship Jesus or any other sun god or sun goddess, that is your right. Always follow your heart and what feels right to you when making that particular decision. All of this came about when man was looking for answers to why we were here and why the sun and sky exist. It isn't completely certain which one is truly right or wrong. All anyone can do is follow what they believe deep down inside of them.
